The gambling jurisdiction that offers licenses to sites such as Party Poker
and PKR, has awarded the mainstream video game producer, SEGA with an
online gambling license.
The Alderney Gambling Control Commission announced this week that it was
pleased to have been chosen by the Japanese based SEGA as a platform to launch
its two new products, segapoker.com and segacasino.com.
The operations will be powered by Playtech software group, meaning a quality
gaming experience for all players, except those from the United States who are
not allowed access to Playtech software for the time being.
"That SEGA Games chose to base their new venture with us in Alderney is
something we are immensely proud of," noted the Head of eCommerce Development
for Alderney, Robin Le Prevost.
"In our minds it vindicates the high quality of our regulation, which is
recognized the world over and has seen substantial investment from companies of
high standing like SEGA over the last few years."
SEGA is best know for the high quality video games it produces, including
titles such as the Sonic Hedgehog games and the Genesis console.
A spokesman for the company said about entering the market: "The Alderney
Gambling Control Commission provides the most comprehensive gaming regulations
with the strictest requirements and such is recognized as the most reputable
online gaming restriction."
The spokesman said that this fits with the group's regulatory compliant
strategy and that SEGA was pleased to be approved by the industry leading
Alderney Gambling Control Commission.
