The Chief Executive of echogram Andrew Beverage stressed the
importance of ongoing responsible gambling operations in the online casino
industry.
The group is currently celebrating its fifth year of training personnel in
the industry in a number of fields that all related to responsible gambling, and
this year alone, over 70 people were trained from four different countries
around the world.
All those trained are employed by echogram accredited online casinos,
sportsbetting sites and poker rooms.
According to statistics put out by the UK Gambling Commission, only 0.6% of
adults had the potential to become 'pathological' gamblers.
However, even this small percentage seems to attract disproportionate media
attention and the issue of problem gambling becomes a hot topic whenever
political or social standards need to be put in place.
"Nevertheless, problem gambling is frequently seized on by industry
detractors, and for this as well as moral and business reasons, it is essential
that operators ensure that staff is trained and facilities are available to the
players," said Beverage.
The in-house courses covered by echogram include identifying problem gamblers
and understanding how players can develop a compulsion.
It also looks at the dilemmas faces by problem gamblers, and studies the
implementation of echogram best practice standards and requirements.
"Responsible gambling ranks very high in echogram priorities for both social
responsibility and business reasons," said Tex Rees, the Manager of Responsible
Gambling at echogram.
"This year is the fifth in which echogram has provided this professional
service to Fair and Safe seal bearing online gambling revenues across the online
casino, poker room, mobile, bingo, live dealer and sports betting platforms of
the 145 international, tier one gambling sites that are accredited."
