While the popularity of some online casino games depends on the latest
trends, one games seems to have stood the test of time and is in fact growing in
popularity with each passing year.
The classic card game known as blackjack is now one of the hottest
commodities at any online casino and the growth of this game can easily be seen
by the high demand for multiplayer blackjack tournaments.
As a recap, blackjack's aim is to secure card values up to 21 that are higher
than the dealer's cards. Anything over 21, either by the dealer or the player,
is considered a 'bust' hand.
All cards have a stipulated value and the skill element in blackjack involves
deciding what course of action to take once those first cards are dealt, taking
into account the dealer's cards as well.
Players have a number of options available to them, the most common being to
'hit' (ask for a new card), 'stand' (decide not to go for any new cards) or
'surrender' (surrender cards and recoup half the bet).
Another option including 'splitting' (creating a new hand of cards from equal
value cards).
Players are attracted to blackjack because it manages to combine a certain
number of elements in the ideal way - skill, entertainment, chance and rewards.
In recent years, multiplayer blackjack tournaments have taken the online
gambling industry by storm and have added a new dimension to this great card
game.
Multiplayer blackjack tournaments essentially have players registering for a
tournament to pitch their skills against other blackjack fans. The last player
to remain standing in these elimination type competitions wins the prize pool.
