Tyron Krost, a university student from Sydney, has stunned the poker world
with his amazing victory in this year's Aussie Millions Poker
Championship.
The player, who had actually taken a year off poker to focus on his
university studies, decided to take part in a satellite event that feeds the
Aussie Millions at the last minute.
"I was looking for something else to do that night," said Krost.
Krost qualified on PartyPoker to make it through to the finals of the
competition on Saturday night, where he beat 746 other players in the main
event.
Krost beat the Dane Frederik Jensen heads up in a nail biting finish, making
it the second time in a row that an Australian has taken the title of one of the
biggest poker tournaments in the world.
Last year Stewart Scott win the 2009 Aussie Millions Championshio.
"I just ran really well and got really lucky," said Krost after his win. "I
had a lot of big hands."
Krost will be taking home a cool $2 million for his victory and is having a
hard time believing that this is happening to him.
"It feels like a dream and I don't want to wake up," he said. "$2 million,
it's amazing."
"In total, I spent $700 trying to qualify for a package and I have managed to
turn that into $2 million! I got some really good spots on the final table. When
I needed a hand I seemed to get it," said Krost.
Krost said that it still has not sunk in how much money he has won. "I have
no idea what I am going to do with it. I cashed at the World Series in 2009 but
nothing like this!"
