The Western Australian based Burswood Casino is set for a multi million dollar upgrade and expansion.
The state government said that it would not stand in the way of the proposed upgrade, that will see the operators of the complex spending over $350 million over the next three years.
This statement was closely linked to the fact that the government is set to enjoy a $20 million up front fee should the project be approved by the Racing and Wagering Commission.
The casino has also agreed to a 27% tax rate on the new gaming machines.
"Twenty million dollars will be utilized to support problem gambling services also to support the racing industry," said the Racing Minister, Terry Waldron.
The expansion will include the building of new restaurants and the expansion of the casino floor to accommodate at least 300 new gaming machines and tables.
Burnswood Casino will see its VIP gaming and accommodation facilities upgraded.
"The end result will be the creation of a world class, integrated resort that can successfully compete against the integrated resorts of the Asian region," said a spokesperson for the casino.
450 new jobs could be created if the venture goes through, according to the Chief Executive of Burswood, Barry Felstead.
"Together with the $130 million of capital expenditure we have made over the previous two years, today's announcement means that Burswood will now be investing almost half a billion dollars over a five year period," he said.
